NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®) for CML recommend ongoing monitoring to detect disease progression and loss of response1

For patients who fail to meet these milestones, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) recommends:1

  • Evaluation of patient compliance and drug interactions
  • Mutational analysis
  • Consideration of subsequent treatment optionsb

aAchievement of response milestones must be interpreted within the clinical context. Patients with >50% reduction compared to baseline or minimally above the 10% cutoff can continue the same dose of dasatinib or nilotinib for another 3 months.

bOptions depend on level of response and include continuing on same TKI or switching TKIs; if currently on imatinib, escalating dose up to a maximum of 800 mg; or evaluating for hematopoietic transplantation. See the NCCN Guidelines® for specific recommendations.
